Programme Description:
This is a one-year, full-time programme that aims to give students an insight and understanding of the developing child from 0-7 years and prepares students to work with children through play in a variety of childcare settings as an intermediate practitioner.

Minimum Entry Requirements:
- Leaving Certificate/Leaving Certificate Applied or equivalent.
- Successful completion of an interview.
- Mature applicants are welcome.
- Garda clearance is a requirement.
- Relevant work experience desirable.
Progression:
- Opportunities to progress to further and higher education in the fields of Early Childhood Education.
- Progression to the Level 6 programme in Early Childhood Care and Education at Ormonde College of Further Education.
- Direct entry to employment positions in crèches, nurseries, playgroups, au pairing and as Special Needs Assistants.
Costs:
Approximately €350 to cover the costs of textbooks and examination fees.
Additional Courses:
Learners have the option of additional short courses in Occupational First Aid (5N1207) and Paediatrics. Learners will also have the opportunity to participate in Drama and Art workshops.
