Programme Description:

This is a one-year, full-time programme that will enable learners to develop the knowledge and competence as well as the leadership and managerial skills required to become advanced practitioners in Early Education and Care settings.

Minimum Entry Requirements:

  • QQI/FETAC Level 5 Award in Childcare (DCHSC), Early Childhood Care and Education (5M2009), Community Care (5M2786) or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of an interview.
  • Prior experience of working in a professional capacity with children will be taken into account.
  • Garda clearance is a requirement.

Progression:

  • Entry to Level 7 programmes in Early Childhood Care and Education, Youthwork and Social Studies programmes.
  • Direct entry to supervisory and management positions in childcare settings.

Costs:

Approximately €300 to cover the costs of textbooks and examination fees.

Additional Courses:

Learners have the option of additional short courses in Occupational First Aid with Paediatrics as well as Drama and Art workshops throughout their course.
