Programme Description:

This is a one-year, full-time programme that aims to provide learners with the skills and knowledge to enable them to work with individuals with intellectual disabilities in different education and care settings.

Minimum Entry Requirements:

  • Leaving Certificate/Leaving Certificate Applied or equivalent
  • Successful completion of an interview
  • Mature applicants are welcome
  • Garda Clearance is a requirement
  • Relevant previous experience is desirable but not essential

Progression:

  • Opportunities to progress to further and higher education in the fields of education and special needs.
  • Direct entry to employment positions as Special Needs Assistants in various educational settings or units.

Costs:

Approximately €350 to cover the cost of examinations, textbooks and additional short courses.
