College of Further Education and Training, Kilkenny is an approved partner college with Accounting Technicians Ireland providing part time evening classes during the academic year for learners to gain a Certificate and Diploma for Accounting Technicians.
Programme Description:
The aim of this programme is to equip candidates with an array of transferable business skills, as well as technical knowledge of finance and accountancy practice. The programme provides candidates with expertise, experience and knowledge in areas such as financial accounting and budgeting, costing and credit control, payroll and tax returns for various types of business entities.
Programme Modules (Year 1):
- Taxation
- Business Law
- Financial Accounting
- Business Management
Registration Criteria:
- 5 Ordinary level Leaving Certificatie grades or equivanent
- Mature applicants (>21) will be assessed based on experience.
Class details, fees and funding:
Classes will take place in Ormonde Campus Monday and Wednesday evenings 7-10pm during the academic year 2024/25. Start date 18th September. The tutition cost for these classes for the year is €230 per module, a total of €920 for 4 modules.
If you are presently in full or part time employment , you may be eligible for funding through SOLAS Skills to Advance Initiative which will cover 70% of the tutition fees reducing the cost to a total of €280 https://www.solas.ie/programmes/skills-to-advance

Accounting Technicans Ireland Registration and Professional Fees:
When you have confirmed your place on the course with us you will be required to register and pay professional fees (€800approx) with Accounting Technicians Ireland (ATI). It is advisable to register as soon as possible, as early registration will be mean access to books and materials prior to the tuition start date.

Assessment Techniques
Learning is assessed via online exams facilitated by Accounting Technicians Ireland.
Progression:
The successful completion of the Certificate for Accounting Technicians will enable applicants to apply for year 2 to achieve a Diploma for Accounting Technicians.
Employment opportunities in a range of accounting and finance positions in such roles as budgeting, costing and credit control, payroll and tax returns.
