Programme Description:

This is a one-year, full-time programme that provides learners with an introduction to nursing and the health-related fields.

  • Minimum Entry Requirements:
  • Leaving Certificate/Leaving Certificate Applied or equivalent.
  • A PASS grade in Biology and Maths (O) is desirable.
  • Successful completion of an interview.
  • Mature applicants are welcome.
  • Garda clearance is required.
  • Relevant work experience is desirable.

Progression:

  • Opportunities to progress to linked nursing degree programmes in Ireland.

  • Care Assistant positions in hospitals, nursing homes and various community care settings.

Costs:

Approximately €300 to cover the costs of textbooks and examination fees.

Additional Programmes:

Learners have the option of additional short courses in Fire Safety, Cardiac First Responder and Management of Actual or Potential Aggression (MAPA), but must complete training in Manual and Patient Handling as part of the course (approximately €150).
